Program Manager (California)

The Columbus Organization is expanding its management team with a full time opportunity for a Program Manager to serve Columbus’ California accounts.    Current California residency is preferred.

Established in 1984, Columbus is the nation’s leading provider of on-site professional staffing and consultative services focusing exclusively on agencies and facilities serving the intellectually and developmentally disabled.  Since its inception Columbus has assisted more than 140 state and local agencies in over 40 states and the District of Columbus to help solve staffing and programmatic problems.

As a seasoned professional, the Program Manager is dedicated to understanding our client’s culture and business processes to meeting human capital needs and exceed expectations. 

The Program Manager works directly with all recruiting and delivery resources, including customer support, to make sure that both the clients’ hiring needs and Columbus’ employee’s expectations are met.  The Program Manager will serve as the primary point of contact to maintain the relationship with the business needs of Columbus’ high volume clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides regular contact and meets with California accounts in person frequently to evaluate customer needs, employee performance and services.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to determine human capital needs, and partners with Recruitment team to promptly fill open positions with highly qualified candidates
  • Develops and implements customer and Columbus’ healthcare professional retention strategies
  • Identifies challenges or breakdowns in communication and partners with client, recruitment team and healthcare professionals to resolve
  • Develops and implements customer and Columbus’ healthcare professional retention strategies
  • Develops, plans and implements processes and procedures to achieve a higher level of efficiency in the project
  • Responds to service requests, inquiries and concerns promptly and graciously, with a client-centered mentality and appropriate discretion, as needed
  • Solid problem-solving skills for the purpose of solving issues related to employee performance
  • Manages Columbus’ healthcare professionals while on assignment (non-clinical functions); assesses and investigates healthcare professional concerns and issues, provides performance coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action when appropriate
  • Ability to think strategically and identify critical success factors when developing strategy and plans for assigned area of responsibility
  • Makes sure client expectations are understood and met; addresses and resolves concerns relating to customer service or contractor performance
  • Solid communication skills to effectively deal with various levels of management, staff and/or outside contacts
  • Documents Columbus’ healthcare professionals and client correspondence and activities within system of record
  • Tracking licenses/certifications to maintain proper credentialing
  • Approving expense reports
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, communications or health services related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar position, with healthcare industry being strongly preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as exemplary interpersonal relations
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with labor and employment laws in California is preferred
  • Must meet all local, state, and federal requirements
