Quality Improvement Organization Certified Provider
The Columbus Organization was recently granted a five year certification by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, as a Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) provider. Working on behalf of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), QIOs are an independent and objective force to help improve health care delivery, safety, and efficiency through a combination of collaborating with provider organizations, delivering targeted technical assistance, and providing direct intervention with Medicare beneficiaries and the healthcare community. QIOs work directly with health care providers to ensure the most current, clinically proven techniques and practices are being put in place to deliver the safest and highest quality care. In obtaining this certification, Columbus’ long-term history of providing peer reviews, mortality reviews, systems reviews and technical assistance and training as well as our success in obtaining positive results was considered.
Through the CMS Federal match system, the QIO designation can be used with our current contract for Project Director and Compliance Monitoring ($300,000) and will allow for an approximate savings of $16,050 since Columbus is working with the Department of Health on this contract. This savings could also be used to add additional technical assistance or training to our current contract which would greatly benefit DOH. If you need assistance on how to apply for these additional monies and match, please call us and we will work with you though the process.
Columbus treats every project as a long-term partnership and our talented staff is fully invested in achieving positive and sustainable change. We welcome the opportunity to discuss how Columbus can assist your organization in your efforts to provide high quality and cost efficient services to the individuals you serve.
